God's Will
ANGELSPEAKE

In 12-Step programs, one of the Steps says: “We made a decision to
turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we understood
him.” It has never been put better as to how to live a loving,
spiritual life and to be the most useful while you are here on
earth.
THE ANGELS SPEAK:
How do you turn your life over to God, to do His will, to be one of
His workers, and still maintain your autonomy and purpose? How do
you coincide your human will with His divine will?
Let us discuss today the difference between FREE WILL and GOD’S
WILL.
Free Will is a gift God has given you that allows you to choose how
you run your own life. It is the choice you have as a human being to
go this way or that. It is to say, I am an individual who is going
to run my life the way I want to, go where I want to, and end up
where I want to. It is the feeling you have when you make a
decision. Should I? Shouldn’t I? It is a mixture of good and bad.
God’s will is goodness. God’s will is simple and clear, once you
attach yourself to it. God’s will leads you to your path and
purpose. God’s will is love.
What is will? Ahhh. A hard one to answer. Your WILL is to do what
you want to do. When you will something for yourself, your human
concerns and desires cloud the issue. The thought “If it feels good,
do it,” has taught you that your feelings are all that matter. That
if you want it, go after it, with no thought of consequence.
When you align your will with God’s, you are saying, “I don’t know
what my path or purpose is, God. I believe you know best. Please
give me the wisdom to want to do what you want me to do. Show me the
way.” Your will together with God’s will is to be aware of outcomes.
You want the best for the whole, not just yourself. You become aware
of a greater good than your own desire.
That thought frightens you, does it not? You are afraid that if you
turn your will over to God he might lead you in a direction you do
not want to go. You want to choose your destiny and make your own
plans. You want to be a teacher, or a computer programmer, or an
opera singer, and you are afraid God will say no, is this not true?
That is the FREE will part of the gifts God has given you. You chose
what you desire to do, but HOW you do it and to what purpose, turn
that over to God. Let Him lead you into your greatness. The talent
to be what you desire was in you before birth, God will help you,
through His divine assistance and Will, to make the most of it.
Yes, it works together. Free Will and Divine Will are two halves of
a perfect whole.
