Dear Angels, could you give us a pertinent message for the holiday season?

The greatness on earth does not just come from a Jesus, a Mary, a Moses, a Buddha, or a Mohammed. It comes from YOU. Each soul has the spirit of greatness within it. The great teachers show that importance can happen to everyone because it has happened to these great people. Whoever you worship is earthly proof that you want to be closer to God. Rejoice in the fact that they are with you always because you are good, not just because you seek. Trust in their truths.

Hi!
This is from my 19 year old stepsons', best friend Kyle, who is also 19. He joined the Army right after graduation. He is now an MP stationed in Iraq. I asked his permission to forward his poem to you. I think it is a great way to remember everyone who is serving and to remember that the freedoms we enjoy have been earned by thousands of men and woman just like Kyle since the time of the first settlers.

A POEM FROM A SOLDIER...

Christmas With You...

It's that time of year again,
Christmas is here!
But I’m not at home
Spreading laughter and cheer.
I'm here on the front lines
With my buddies and gear,
Protecting my country
From the terror they fear.

My family misses me dearly
and there's friends I won't see.
But this time of year,
It's where I choose to be,
So you can enjoy moments of singing and glee.
And the only big worry
Is the lights and Christmas tree.

I’ll sacrifice my Christmas
And all of the joys.
To know a toddler’s face lit up,
When he opened his toys.
You might think I’m lying
And there must be a void.
To be here on this holiday
I cherished as a boy.

I assure you I’m not
And I want it this way.
To be fighting for freedom
On this Christmas day.
People ask me "why?"
And all I have to say
Is "I’m an American soldier
In the U S of A.

So, on this Christmas
There's only one thing I ask of you.
Pray for our safety
In this job that we do.
And gather 'round your loved ones
And please don't feel blue.

KIDS KNOW ABOUT LOVE:
They say that Holidays are for Children. Perhaps it is because they have so much to teach us. We thank our friend Don MacL. for reminding us of how children look at love.

What does Love mean?

A group of professional people posed this question to a group of 4 to 8 year-olds. The answers they got were broader and deeper than anyone could have imagined.

"When my grandmother got arthritis, she couldn't bend over and paint her toenails anymore. So my grandfather does it for her all the time, even when his hands got arthritis too. That's love."

"When someone loves you, the way they say your name is different.   You just know that your name is safe in their mouth."
Billy - age 4

"Love is what makes you smile when you're tired."
Terri - age 4

"Love is when my mommy makes coffee for my daddy and she takes a sip before giving it to him, to make sure the taste is OK."

"Love is what's in the room with you at Christmas if you stop opening presents and listen."

And the final one -- Author and lecturer Leo Buscaglia once talked about a contest he was asked to judge. The purpose of the contest was to find the most caring child.  The winner was a four year old child whose next door neighbor was an elderly gentleman who had recently lost his wife. Upon seeing the man cry, the little boy went into the old gentleman's yard, climbed onto his lap, and just sat there. When his Mother asked what he had said to the neighbor, the little boy said, "Nothing, I just helped him cry."

Dear Barb, I have a question I hope gets answered in an Angelspeake newsletter. I love reading the poetry of Mattie Stepanek who wrote the Heartsongs series of books. Can you get a message from the other side from him? He was such a great inspiration here on earth and it would be nice to get inspired again.

Mattie Speaks:
Hello, Everyone,
I am glad to be back here on this side. Even though I was happy to do the work I did the short time I was on earth, it was very tiring, and the last thing I remember before I crossed over to heaven was the feeling of being light and free. It was like my heavy body just fell away from me and I could fly. My first thought was, “I am Superman!” It seems like 2005 was a year of a lot of sad things, and from earth it looks like that. From here it looks like a lot of lights went on. Lots of souls lit up to help other souls who couldn’t help themselves. When people come over here, the angels and other people and kids like me are here to “grab” them so they will know they are safe. Tell people that so they know their loved ones aren’t scared.

What are the best things about Heaven? No fear. No pain. No doubt. No sadness. And there are no crutches or canes or walkers or wheelchairs or ventilators or needles. Everyone can fly! Everyone laughs and sings and we pray all the time. It is fun and free. I loved the work I did with all of you, but I am awfully glad to be here.

We will all be here to “grab” you when it’s your time. It’s okay.
